Effect of propofol-docosahexaenoic acid (propofol-DHA) and propofol-eicosapentaenoic acid (propofol-EPA) conjugates on caspase-3 activation. MDA-MB-231 cells (5 × 10⁵ per well) were grown in 96-well plates for 24 hours at 37°C in a humidified CO₂ incubator with control or test compounds. Cells containing activated caspase-3 fluoresced green as the result of cleavage of a fluorogenic substrate (Asp-Glu-Val-Asp-fluoromethylketone-aminotrifluoromethylcoumarin conjugate).
